It Almost Might Possibly Be True

Attacks of biting and kicking teachers are on the rise

Not much to say about the news today. The above story was followed by the statement that it is possibly down to bad parenting. Really? Well let's not commit to criticising parents. Heaven forbid they should take any responsibility for the raising of their children.

Secondly, panic buying of fuel. FFS get a life. There isn't even a date for a strike yet and petrol stations are running dry. Really, it's quite pathetic.

I'll admit to panic buying some petrol this week.
I was getting low when I left Warwick, so called into the local Sainsbury's which has a big 18 pump station attached to it.
The queue stretched out of the station and down to the roundabout almost. "Sod that!" I thought. I figured I should just about have enough to get home if I drove carefully.
By the time I got home, I think I was running on fumes, but our local BP had big queues too and I really can't be arsed to queue, so I went home.
When I drove up to the station much later that night when the queues would have gone (it's 24hr), I was panicking a bit that I might not make it. But I did.

Panic over.

That's not really panic buying but just panicking. I did that last night as I was on fumes. When you run out nearly you have to refill. It took me three garages to find some, and I too went out in the evening to get it when all the sheep had gone home. Funnily enough, our local shell had run out of everything but standard unleaded. There was still one girl who was ringing her friends to tell them to come and buy petrol there whilst they had some.

When I was at school the teachers were respected but they earned that respect which I doubt happens today.

As to the fuel, my car was filled the day after the budget and I've used almost three litres since...

Toffeeapple - I think there's a part of that involved but the seeds of respect are sown by parents and unfortunately they don't respect teachers. I'm sure we both remember the idea of respecting your elders. That, like much else, is long gone.
