"Day off"? I can think of better ways to spend it than going to hospital. As for your client, I recommend super-detailed invoicing - break it down to inidividual screws and nails if you have to. Lots of detail generally confounds them.
That's my job for the weekend. Each invoice broken down item by item. Shan't run a contract this way again. Didn't work but it seemed like a good idea at the time. :)
